Maurie’s is on a mission to create the best sandwich and FOOD experience in the city, and we’re looking for a Head Chef & Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen and help shape the future of our brand.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a culinary expert who thrives in fast, efficient production and brings creativity, organisation, and strong people skills to the table.

The Role

As Head Chef & Kitchen Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in all aspects of our kitchen operations. As with all startup businesses, this is a hands-on role covering many areas, from menu development and food quality to team leadership and food safety. You’ll work closely with the founders to develop exciting new sandwich concepts while ensuring smooth, efficient day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire the kitchen team to execute menu items with consistency, speed, and creativity

  • Oversee all food preparation and production processes

  • Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and environmental health compliance

  • Manage inventory, stock rotation, ordering, and cost control

  • Collaborate with management on new sandwich ideas, NEW BAKED GOODS and menu development

  • Set the standard for organisation, efficiency, and attention to detail

  • Train, mentor, and support kitchen staff to foster a positive, motivated team culture

About You

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager, or senior cook in a high-volume fast casual environment

  • Strong operational knowledge, including inventory management and kitchen systems

  • A confident leader who can motivate, develop, and retain a strong team

  • Creative, food-obsessed, and up-to-date with FOOD trends

  • INTEREST & EXPERIENCE IN BAKING IS AN ADVANTAGE

  • Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards

  • Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification preferred
